ArtMedium's latest project, Green Art Project, targets the general Jordanian public with the aim to raise awareness about local environmental issues. The campaign revolves around the use of art as a concept in order to inspire environmental awareness. ArtMedium feels strongly about reaching a diverse demographic by pulling a wide variety of participants to reach an even wider audience. Our aim is to use creativity and visual appeal through art that communicates ideas that need to be heard. To view our artistic campaign ad, please visit our flickr website here. Our method is meant to be attractive, exciting and effective in inspiring action.The project used three platforms in order to engage and communicate with the public.
1- School Competition:
Starting in May 2011, students from across Jordan participated in an art competition where they were asked to create a piece about the environment. ArtMedium approached 22 schools, both public and private, in order to participate in this event. The best 20 student submissions, picked by a panel of judges from ArtMedium and Zara Gallery-Hyatt, will each win a laptop and art supplies. 2- Green Art Project's Trees (Public Art Campaign)
30 local artists were each given a tree to decorate and design to their liking. After handing the trees back, ArtMedium proceeded to place the trees at different locations across Amman. The public art will help create a buzz around the project thus raising the public's awareness. ArtMedium will also launch a Tree Hunt competition where people will be asked to try to locate and photograph themselves with all the trees in order to win a ticket to the Music Hall Dinner.
3- Creative Trash Bins
ArtMedium will host an event to raise enough money to fund the production of creative, artistic trash bins for Jordan. The idea consists of placing trash cans in several different locations across Jordan (shopping arcades, picnic spots, popular street, etc.). Continuing with ArtMedium's creative and artistic vision, these trash cans will be appealing enough to encourage people to use them and dispose of litter responsibly.
